Thanks for reposting. Two areas of attention to detail.

As per the release notes: https://docs.centrify.com/en/css/suite2016/2016.1-release-notes/Centrify-Server-Suite-2016.1-Release-Notes.html
Support is added for the following operating system platforms in this release: · AIX 7.2 · Latest version of Amazon Linux AMI (x86, x86_64) · CentOS 7.2 (x86_64) · Debian Linux 7.10, 8.3, 8.4 (x86, x86_64) · Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.2 (x86_64) · Scientific Linux 7.2 (x86_64) · openSUSE 42.1 (x86_64) · SUSE 12 SP1 (x86_64) · Scientific Linux 7.2 (x86_64) · Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (x86, x86_64)
You have to be at Centrify DirectControl 5.3.1 and above for support on Ubu 16.04.
Identity Mapping between UNIX and Windows
In addition, regardless of the SMB client, your Windows system (or filer hosting SMb share) needs to be able to match the UNIX identity of the end-user coming from the Ubu system with Centrify.
In Express mode, you don't have UNIX identity management flexibility, so you must find a manual way to populate UNIX data (e.g. RFC2307) in order for this to work.
With Standard Edition, you have several ways to get this done.
The Kerberos part should be very straightforward as long as Nautilus is aware of the Kerberos capability provided by Centrify.
